Workshops

Alice Philips works and teaches out of her studio in Vancouver, BC. She teaches both beginner and advanced feltmaking classes, as well as master classes on special techniques or applications.

Introduction to Feltmaking

A 1-day workshop providing a basic introduction to the practical process of feltmaking, including:

  • wool breeds and their characteristics
  • demonstration of basic feltmaking
  • hands-on building and felting a sampler.

3-Dimensional Feltmaking

A 1-day workshop extending basic feltmaking to incorporate 3-dimensional skills including resist techniques.  Each participant will complete a simple 3-dimensional project such as a handbag, hat or sculpture.  (Completion of "Introduction to Feltmaking is a prerequisite.)

Master Classes

Special classes for addicted feltmakers who have already completed the beginners and advanced classes and want to further explore new techniques and materials.  Projects will be determined individually.

 

All 1-day workshps are from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, with a short lunch break.  Participants are requested to bring a notebook and a small handtowel.

Classes for each workshop are limited to 6 participants for the introductory workshop, and 4 participants for the advanced workshops.
